Picture Manager 2010 - cannot load/list pictures from eksternal sources like USB stick

Hi

I Cannot - (on different OS like XP/Win7/Win7sp.x and different USB drives) get picture manager 2010 to open pictures.

I attach the usb drive (or camera) i wait for it to let explorer reconize the different pictures like jpeg jpg bmp ect. i load op Picture manager 2010 i choose File > Locate pictures > correct drive letter for usb drive > the scaning starts of the usb drive. but it does NOT show any pictures at all - in any of the scenarios i can think of will it let me se pictures from the usb drives.

i tried local drive no problem it scans and finds the same pictures of different types like bmp jpg. ect.

i even tested with varius indexing scanning services windows7 configurations - but all no luck

Picture manager 2010 14.0.4750.1000 / Win7/XP

Please Advice (And yes feel free to try yourself if you can get it to list/show pictures in picture manager after pointing to your usb drive, and let me know the result!)

Regards, Max

Hi,

Make sure the Layout is setting properly, like large icon etc.

Try to place the USB drives onto another PC then check whether Picture Manager would recognize pictures from external source or not.

If it still do not show pictures, we will have to check if our USB drives is encrypted or there is something wrong with it.

If it shows pictures normally, Picture Manager may be damaged during the installation of third-part application, we can get it repaired from Control Panel.

Hi

Thank you for your reply

USB has been inserted to 3 Different PCs no luck still not showing - the 3 Different PCs have been used 2 different non encrypted USB pen drives all with same result Picture manager is not showing the pictures (like bmp/jpg ect.)

The layout is default from install - no changes made here and they are different installations (that is 3 different PCs with there own office installation (but just in case i tried now to use different layouts no luck)

It has not been able to show pictures normally at any time

Ok - Update

I have in one case here been able to make it see picture, i launched the explorer and opened the pictures on the USB unit trough windows explorer and closed it again. after this i was able to open picture manager and see the pictures. and after they are in the history list of picture manager it will display the pictures.

But - when i search for pictures on ex. second USB drive without openening the picture trough explorer - it will show "searching xx" message on screen but will not display the pictures (as if it doesent find the files after the search) wich i must summorize to be very undepended behavior as default sharepoint picture tool for my 1100 users ;)
