Please help with message tracking logs
The recipient-report-status should display 0 if successful, 1 if successful, and null if it doesn't apply. However, my logs report 0 on all records, even if the message was unsuccessful. Any ideas? It is driving me crazy.

Keith-
The recipient-report-status is only for deliver reports (i.e. NDRs); it doesnt give you the delivery status of "normal" mail messages.

Is there a way to get the status of a normal mail message? For compliancy purposes I have to track all outgoing messages to monitor if they are successful or not.

Can you clairify? When sending SMTP all we are ever be able to confirm is that the message was sent outside, but are not able to confirm if it was delivered to a mailbox, etc.
If all you are after is confirmation that it's left your organization than I believe the SMTP server that is doing the sending could be configured to track the status, however correlating a specific outbound SMTP connection to a specific message is not going to be an easy bit of work. Also keep in mind that if messages arent leaving your server than your clients would get (internally generated) NDRs.
In other words if you're after what I think you're after (to find out if so-and-so actually got the email) even if you put a lot of work into this you wont be able to gather any additional information. The only way to find out if someone actually got an email would be to get a response back from their client/mailbox (such as a "read reciept" from Outlook).
