Ports used by Exchange 2007
I want to setup a home lab for my exchange org......when I did this with Exchange 2003, I need to use a smarthost, since my internet provider blocks port 25. Well I just learned that, for a few more dollars a month, they have a service that allows access to ports 80 and 25.........
My question is what ports are used by Exchange 2007? Actually, I have a list of ports blocked by my ISP....are any of these needed?
1080, 8080, 3128, 135, 136, 137, 138 139, and 445
thanks!

Well it depends on what you want to do - from what I can see you seem to want to get access to OWA and Send mail via SMTP to your Exchange server - you can change the default ports to something that your ISP does not block however this will still potentially cause an issue for SMTP - as source MTA's typically try to connect on port 25 to you servers)) - I would cough up the extra cash to avoid the hassle personally.
In the old days if you placed and Exchange 2003 FES in a DMZ you would need ports 135,6,7,8,9 open - however they are closed for good reasons (MSBlast for example) by ISP's however with Exchange 2007 you should not be looking to have Exchange 2007 servers within a DMZ - for example the Edge server role only requires a few port open to the back end to transport mail whereas the CAS server can be published via ISA server on ports 80 (or preferably 443)

thanks for the reply.
Like i stated, Port 25 will be open, so I won't need to change the port...........I was just wondering if any of the ports I listed would be needed by Exchange 2007
