Postmaster Question
Hi,I have question regarding the postmaster, we want the external NDR's to come in the postmaster mailbox, ourexchange 2007 with HUB, Mailbox,CA are installed on one server and the Tranport edge on othere server, so I did create an mail box for postmaster then ran this cmdlet on the edge server.Set-TransportServerourserver -ExternalPostmasterAddress postmaster@ourdomain.com.but when I send an e-mail to a recipiant in our organization with mis spelled name, I do not get any ndr in the postmaster mailbox.I also find out that some one has run the same cmdlet on the hub transport server as wel.Any Idea why is this heppening? Thanks,ShahinShahin

ExternalPostmasterAddress is used for external NDRs, i.e. where the sender has an e-mail address that contains a domain that is not defined in the list of accepted domains for the Exchange2007 organization. For internal NDRs, use: Set-OrganizationConfig -MicrosoftExchangeRecipientReplyRecipient <Recipient Identity> For more information see http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb400930.aspx

That's ok, but you did you test it by sending from a foreign domain to a unknown user? Also, did you run "Set-TransportServer .. -ExternalPostmasterAddress" on Hub as well as Edge servers ? Michel de Rooij,

Hi,Are you able to see Postmaster email id when use Get-TransportServer command .Also confirm once you have created the postmaster mailbox, you must verify that the e-mail address that was assigned to the mailbox matches the e-mail address that you told Exchange to use for the postmaster.Anil
