I have a large number of presentations prepared in PP2010 which I frequently use. When I load them into PP2013, they are highly misconfigured. It apparently has something to do with the new wide screen (16:9 default) scaling, although when I open them in PP2013 they have the (correct) older 4:3 scaling by default, yet they are not right.  I tried setting the scaling to 16:9 (wide), but that didn't help. I can't understand why an older version (PP2010) won't open in PP2013 exactly as is. This is a major compatibility problem!

In theory, PowerPoint 2010 files should open correctly in PowerPoint 2013. There shouldn't be any big compatibility issue between them.

Did you get any error when open the file in PowerPoint 2013? What kind of "highly misconfigured" do you mean? Would you please provide a screenshot to help us understand the issue?
