PowerPoint Scaling issue

Hi,

I have a Dell XPS 13 with resolution 3200 x 1800.

My problem is that the resolution of the PowerPoint window is shown with very large menu items.

The whole window is reacting in a responsive way and changes the layout so I cant work in PowerPoint.

When I change the resolution lower, it is acting more normal and it is possible to create slides in PowerPoint.

I have tested this fix

1) Go to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office 15\root\office15

2) Right-click on powerpnt.exe.manifest and change the permission so you can modify the file

3) Right-click on powerpnt.exe.manifest and open with Wordpad

4) Change the line

    <dpiAware>True/PM</dpiAware>
    to

    <dpiAware>False/PM</dpiAware>
5) Save file

, but this only helps when I start PowerPoint to create new projects. When I open old projects, the scaling is horrible.

Hi Mathkn,

I read the issue and replies of the link, and I found the solution works for a majority of users. Im not sure if you notice this link (the history link of your solution):

http://www.danantonielli.com/adobe-app-scaling-on-high-dpi-displays-fix/

Please Note: Since the web site is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice. Microsoft does not guarantee the accuracy of this information.

You only tried the second step but lost the first step.

The first step is to modify registry so that tell windows to prefer an external manifest file.

You need to go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > SideBySide

Then add a new DWORD (32 bit) Value- Type PreferExternalManifest- Select Decimal and modify Value Data 1.

You can refer to the above link and check if it works for you.

Important Follow the steps in this section carefully. Serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Before you modify it, back up the registry for restoration in case problems occur.

Please refer to this article about how to back up and restore the registry in Windows:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/322756?wa=wsignin1.0

Hope its helpful.
