Preventing users from sending email to a certain OU
I currently have one OU with all the employees of the company. We have subcontractors that are connected to our network via T1 (WAN). We want to give them email addresses on our exchange server. I want the subcontractors to only see other subcontractors in the AD. I don't want them to be able to see the other employess or email them. I was thinking of creating another OU for the subcontractors and restricting emails to just that OU. Is that possible? if so, how do I do that? Another option was creating another DC, but i didn't want to go there. Thanks.

Restricting to an OU is not possible You can use groups however and set delivery restrictions on all recipients so only non contracters can send emails to these recipients but that is a lot of work What you also want is to limit the address lists for the contractors Then you need to do something like shared hosting http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Shared_Hosting_Exchange_2003_Part1.html Deli

Question about limiting the address list. I know you can set that limit in Outlook and have the subcontractor DL be listed first, but it seems you can't prevent the user from choosing "Global Address List" which will list everyone. So there isn't an easy way to just have the contractors see their own address list? Each contractor have their own external emails, but we want them to use internal email to send company correspondences. However, we do not want the contractors to see the names of the company employees (and therefore email them).

You can set permissions on address lists But if a contacter would guess or knowthe email address the message would allways get to the mailbox Deli
