Problem installing CAS role Exchange 2007
I had an Exchange 2007 server failure. Two drives on the RAID failed. I rebuilt the server and reinstalled Exchange 2007 with the recoverserver switch. It failed on the mailbox role. After some consultation with the local MA tech support, I manually
uninstalled Exchange without a problem.
Now the reinstallation fails with error: "an error occurred while creating the IIS virtual directory 'IIS://mail01.domain.local/W3SVC/1/ROOT/Autodiscover' on 'MAIL01". cannot create a file when that file already exists. (Exception from HRESULT:0x800700B7)
I'm desperate. Email has been down for a week now.

Hi,
It seems to be that you got some problem in un-installing your CAS so
Did you use the format New-OWAVirtualDirectory -Name OWA -OWAVersion Exchange2007 ?
Regards.

Hi Shafaquat,
I uninstalled IIS from server manager, and just used server manager to add the web server role after a reboot. I then started the CAS installation role from the command line, and also directly from the GUI setup.

Further to my reply.
I ran the remove-owavirtualdirectory -DomainController command, and ran the new OWAVirtualDirectory -Name OWA -OWAVersion Exchange2007 command. What should I run for the other virtual directories, like Exchweb?

Local MS support came through for me. Uninstalled IIS (again), installed Metabase Explorer, reinstalled IIS. Ran Metabase Explorer and removed the following virtual directories: Autodiscover, EWS, OAB and UM. Reinstalled CAS and was successful. This is now
resolved.
