Problem printing Outlook emails

In the last week or so, I have found that I am unable to print emails received via Outlook 2010.  Even though the printer is available in the drop down list to choose from, the following message appears: "Print Preview requires a printer to be selected.  Under Printer, click the down arrow and then click the printer you want to use."

Oddly, if the email contains Word attachments, those documents print without a problem.

I have run a repair of Office 2010 and I have also uninstalled and reinstalled the printer (a Dell 2335dn). These do not seem to have solved the problem.

No other changes have been made to the operating system or programs installed, other than a batch of 18 Microsoft updates.

Any advice would be appreciated

Hi Trevjohnny,

Firstly, please check your action about printing email message as below link:

If its correct, that might be caused corrupted user profile. You could create a new profile referring below link:

Many thank Karen.

Unfortunately, neither option has worked.  The print page only has one style - Memo style and this doesn't seem changeable.  I created an alternative profile and set it to be opened by default.  I then shut down and rebooted the system. Outlook opened with my emails downloaded from the server but without my calendar, email folders and notes etc.  Despite that, I attempted a print of the test email sent by Microsoft but it generated the same error code. "Print Preview requires a printer to be selected.  Under printer, click the down arrow and then click the printer you want to use."  The printer is correctly selected.  However, I have noticed that, in Printers and Devices, the printer has a small icon of 2 people attached at lower left. I'm not sure whether this means that it is selected as the default.  In addition, if I right click and try to set it as default, I get the error code 0x00000709.  I am totally confused as to what's going on here!

Help!!

Sorry, something I forgot to mention.  I have also run Microsoft FixIt, which identified the printer as not being the default.  When it attempted to fix the problem, it couldn't.  I have also reinstalled the printer driver but that hasn't made a difference either.  The printer is currently connected to a single laptop by USB.  The laptop is connected to a local network by ethernet cable.  The printer driver was installed on a single-connection basis (not on a network), as I am the only one using this printer.
