Problem with Exchange 2007 sp2 Installation
Greetings to all I'm a new member on these boards and the reason i'm writting here is (what else?) i'm having problems withan Exchange 2007 sp2 installationThe network in which i'm installing Exchange is a1-forest 1-domainwith anexisting exchange 2000 server.I run all the commandsto prepareAD successfully (run them from the computer i want to install exchange not from the dc ,but having all the necessary privilleges)and they completed successfully.Once i installed Exchange 2007 , i have some problems regarding AD topology discoverySpecifically i got the events that no domain controller responds and that MAD.exe could not find the topology .Tried everything on the net but still no solution.Anyway after spending two weeks with no result i decided to uninstall and reinstall Exchange To do this i would like to ask you1)Should i run prep commands again ?2)Should i run then from the dc ? Thank you very much Isaak

If this is just an exchange uninstallation, run it from the control panel and uninstall it. Just follow this http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123893(EXCHG.80).aspxMake sure there is no mail box and no PF on the exchange.Raj

No you dont need to run the prep again. Your schema has been expanded and can except the attributes of exchange 2007. If the AD was restore from a previous back up, then yes, you need to the prep again.Raj

Ok all problems solved ! everything functions as it should be except some messages stuck in the queue but this should be a DNS problem.Thank you very much for your replies. The problem was actually active directory related and was a replication issue. The "Manage audit ..." setting in the policies wouldn't update to the BDC and instead were overwritten to the PDC from the BDC with the old value.Once set manually on both dc's everything worked like a charm. That is why everything was functioning after every time i run /preparedomain for 15 mins and after that time nothing worked.Thank you very much Isaak

Sorry for double posting but i have another problem regarding the same installation. I cannot add Exchange Servers security group in the GPO for the Manage auditing... privilege because the GPO snap in wont open in both the DC's. Given that we are in a coexistence phase with another exchange 2000 server i managed to work around this problem adding the Exchange 2007 server in the Exchange Enterprise Servers Group to allow inheritence of the privilege. But every 6-7 hours this setting gets undone .Well i decided not to force this again so i left it as it was ,with the exchange 2007 server out of that group.Btw the exchange 2000 server works flawlessly. The deletion of the exchange enterprise group is been done because of an active directory or network malfunction (Replication,DNS) or because of some builtin control Exchange service checking which computers actually belong to that group ? Thank you in advance Isaak

Yes i did ! I have no idea what causes it. I guess i'll wait the AD guy to fix it completely and then start to do some debugging. Thanx for the info ppl!
