I have an Exchange 2013 server setup in a hybrid deployment with office 365.

I've setup a mailbox to have an archive stored in the cloud (office 365).

The setup appears to be functioning fine, the mailbox and archive are available both in owa and outlook and manually moving a message to an archive in the client works.

The only bit that doesn't appear to work is the automatic moving of messages via default policy tags.

Details of the problem can be found in this discussion in the Office 365 Forums. I was advised to post here as the problem appears to be with the managed folder assistant processing rather than the 365 interconnect.

Can someone help, how do I get a usable log that actually points to where the problem is?

On slide 30 of this Channel9 presentation, it's indicated that the retention policies have to be manually synced to the cloud. Going further, this Technet article describes how to use the mentioned scripts, and also the 3rd scenarios listed there looks to be the one you're in ("Applying retention policies in an Exchange Online Archiving scenario, where users with on-premises Exchange 2010 or later mailboxes have a cloud-based archive.").

How do you move the old items to Archive mailbox automatically? Are you using retention policy for these users?

Please run the following command to check your retention policy settings for this users:

Get-Mailbox -Identity User1 | FL Identity,*Retention*

If the retention policy is listed there for the mailbox, please run the following command to check the detailed retention policy content:

Get-RetentionPolicy -Identity Retention Policy Name | fl

Get-RetentionPolicyTag -Identity Retention Policy Tab name | fl

Please show me the results here for further troubleshooting.

I've already tried this and it didn't seem to make any difference :(
