Problem with OAB (Ex2007)
Greetings Some of our users are saying that they are using an older copy of the OAB. Not entirely sure how to troubleshoot this one as things seem to have changed in this respect since Ex2003. We're running Ex2007 SP2 on Windows 2008. We have two CAS's per site, load balanced. Anyone know the best way to start troubleshooting this? I'm interested in - i. Checking where the Outlook clients are getting their OAB from ii. Ensuring it's not a local problem iii. Isn't the CAS responsible for OAB generation now? Is there a service on there I can restart to enforce distribution? iv. Anything we need to chek on the DC side?

· Review the application log on the mailbox server designated as the OAB generation server. It should list any problems updating the OAB. If you need more info, increase diagnostic logging on the System Attendant · IF using https for distribution: Verify the OAB is properly copied to the CAS by reviewing the CAS application logs. · Do they use Outlook 2007 or Outlook 2010? If so, you can hold ctrl+right-click on the Outlook system tray icon. Then chose “Test Email AutoConfiguration”. Make sure the URLs are valid for OAB. Mike Crowley Check out My Blog!

Just "Some", not alll? In that case, why not simply close Outlook, delete all the *.oab files on their workstation, re-open Outlook and download the Offline Address Book on that client again and see if those updated files are downloaded and they get the latest OAB.

Do they still get the old OAB? It may be a problem at the clietn rather than the server. >We're running Ex2007 SP2 on Windows 2008. We have two CAS's per site, load balanced. The CAS just distributes the OAB. >Is there a service on there I can restart to enforce distribution? iv. Anything we need to chek on the DC side? Nothing on a DC. This should get you started: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc546683.aspx If one of the CAS gets a copy ot the new OAB but the other doesn' then it's probably a problem with the directory on the CAS (share, permissions, missing folder, etc.). --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP
