Problem with OWA Exchange 2003 and attachments
Hi,
I've a very strange problem with some kind Office attachment in OWA 2003.
When i try to download from WOA and e-mail with attachment with xlsx extension from IExplorer 8 it download the file with the extension.XLTX.
I've disable the option in IE "open files based on the content" and I have added in IIS the Office 2010 MIME Types correctly.
It just happend with XSLX extensions and with IExplorer, docx download fine, using Firefox works perfect, but I need made it work in IExplorer 8.

Are you using Windos 7 for iexplorer 8.

I find out a workaround for the problem.
Deleting the registry entry:
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MIME\Database\Content Type\application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.spreadsheetml.template]
"Extension"=".xltx"
Solve the problem.

Now the issue is IE8 client can’t open the attachment of .xlsx file, because they changed into .xltx file via OWA.
As a workaround, I
think you may install Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint File Formats.
You could download it from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=941b3470-3ae9-4aee-8f43-c6bb74cd1466
