Problem with SBS2008/Exchange2007 mailbox maxes out at 2gb ???
Hi,
I created the mailbox via the SBS console and then set its limit to 4gb
instead of the default 2gb.
I am then using a seperate box running the 32bit exch2007 tools and
powershell to import the mailbox from a PST. The mailbox in question was
too big (2.2gb) and so I exported it into 2 PST files, one with deleted
only, and one with everything else.
The import works fine until it hits the 2gb limit and says:
Import-Mailbox : Error was found for Test User2 (TestUser2@mycompany.com)
because: Error occurred in the step: Moving messages. This mailbox exceeded
the maximum number of corrupted items specified for this move mailbox
operation., error code: -1056749110
When I go into Outlook 2007 under this user and try to compose/save a
message, it says:
"Mailbox Cleanup" You have exceeded the size limit on your mailbox.
If I right click mailbox, properties, folder size --> 2097166 KB which is
technically 14KB over a 2Gb limit.
If I run this powershell command:
get-mailbox | ft name,*quota*
And it was 4gb.
Any ideas ???
Thanks,
Alan

How long did you wait after changing the mailbox quota? This can take up to two hours to take effect unless you restart the Information Store or update the registry.

Hi Alan
The error message is:
This mailbox exceeded the maximum number of corrupted items specified for this move mailbox
Try "Import-mailbox ..... -BadItemLimit 100"
If you have the same error, increase the parameter "-BadItemLimit"

Hi,
Ed - you are the man! Restarted it, and was able to import properly.
Pano - I know it seemed like an odd message and at first I thought my PST was corrupted, but I found if I loaded file1.pst before file2.pst it claimed file2.pst was corrupted, but if I loaded file2.pst before file1.pst it would claim file1.pst is corrupted.
It failed right at the 2gb full mark.
Thanks,
Alan

See the following article for a registry change that will reduce this issue:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/327378
Long experience has shown that you can change this number to 15 minutes with no observable ill effect, although Microsoft might tell you to not go lower than 20 minutes.
