Hi, Im having troubles during the Installation of a Windows Exchange Server 2010, on a Windows Server 2008 R2. Im getting the following error message during the installation of the mailbox role. I've tried searching for a solution for this problem for a while no, but can't get any closer to getting it solved. Have you checked your UAC settings? The errors indicate issues writing to the registry. I would recommend turning off UAC then retrying your installation. If not successful please re-post error message. Chris Raschke | C/D/H - www.CDH.com

Hi, Please make sure your Microsoft .NET Framework NGEN service are started. If it is and still not work you can try to reinstall your .NET Framework 3.5 and then try again. Best Regards!

Hey, Thanks for the answers! I've tested both suggestions, but didn't help me though. Turned off the UAC. Reinstalled .Net Framework 3.5, and restarted the NGEN-services to ensure that they were running. Here are the response from the Exchange installation: http://pastebin.com/2tXmHq0L

Tried to reinstall the Exchange server, and still got the error. My mailbox-folder is generated as it should be, during the installation. However it does not generate a edb-file, but thats probably gets added during the mounting or something? Hi Marius, I meant to say that is it the first time you are installing exchange on the Hardware :) Wait for sometime and than try to mount it. Post the error when you try to mount it. Check the adsiedit.msc and post the number of database you see Adsiedit.msc...>Configuration...>Services...>Microsoft Exchange...>ORG...>Administrative Group...>Exchange Administrative Group...>Database....(Check the number of databases, Post the udpate. Hi, Ahh, misunderstood you then :) I tried to deploy a new server, but didn't change much, still getting the same error. I can see two databases in ADSI. One from the new server, and one from the "old" one. So guess the problem here probably lies on the DC?

Hi, The mailbox database cannot be mounted during creation of the database, this is because I get the abovementioned error during the installation of the mailbox. I guess it's an error that may be related to the DC, as I get the same error on two different virtual machines where I've tried to install Exchange (Error during Exchange installation: http://bildr.no/view/930059 - Full errormessage: http://pastebin.com/ELr1Cmks). I do not have the option to mount the database from the database-manager-view, which I guess is due to the fact that I haven't installed the mailbox-role. Hi Mariusos, Regarding to the error your listed:"The Microsoft Exchange Replication service may not be running on server VI-EX-01.af.lan" I think your installation didn't add this service so you need to reinstall Exchange Server 2010. Before you do it, you need to remove windows backup feature from your Windows Server 2008 and then try this reinstall step. After that, if you still get any problem, please show us exchange installation log from "ExchangeSetupLogs" folder. Because you have tried and for the sake of getting clear and newest log you can rename old log folder name before you reinstall exchange server 2010. Plus, you need to check whether there're some useful log in Windows event. If any post them here as well. Best Regards!

I sat down and read through the error log, and came over a couple of errors that said that the registery editor was disabled. So I disabled the "prevent registry editor tools" group policy, and it worked like a charm. Thanks for the help everyone, you are great!. Best regards, Marius
