Problems installing Exchange 2007 in 2008 domain
Hey guys.I struggle with a lab-envirement where I want to test a 2008 server and Exchange 2007.When trying to install Exchange 2007 the readiness-chech reports: Cannot find at least one global catalog server running Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1 or later in the local Active Directory site. The enviroment looks like this:Server 1: 2008 server with DNS, DHCP, IIS and DC (Global Catalog)Server 2: 2008 server as DC (Global Catalog)Server 3: 2003 server with SCCM, fileserver, application server.Server 4: 2003 server that I want to install Exchange 2007 on.Any idea as to why it complaints about not having a GC, when I have two GC's in the domain? Thanks in advance!-Peter

Hello Peter,
Are you installing Exchange 2007 with SP1? Since w/o SP1 is not supported with Windows 2008 so try with SP1.

Hi,
Exchange 2007 sp1 can be installed on a Windows 2008 Server based computer.
For your reference: How to Install Exchange 2007 SP1 Prerequisites on Windows Server 2008

Please run DCDIAG & NETDIAG to check whether it is a network related or DC related issue.

Also, Exchange Servers Universal Security group must be granted "Manage Audit and Security Logs" there. Also make sure that nothing blocks "Access this computer from the network".
1. Please run secpol.msc from a command prompt.
2. Local Policies-User Rights Assignment- Manage Audit and Security Logs.
3. Double click on it and check whether Exchange Servers is listed there.
If not, then please apply the Exchange Servers security group to each DC policy.
Hope it helps.

Following this thread as I think I have the same issue- not installing Exch 07 on a 2008 server but in a 2008 server domain. So question - isn't this something the Exchange server install would change? By default do any servers have Exchange Server Security group included for accessing anything?
