Problems with delivery and read recipts
We are running Exchange 2007 and Outlook 2007 for our email system.
We would like the user to be able to dictate whether they reply to a read receipts to any email address internally or externally.
When sending an email with Subject: Message1 from User1 to User2 inside the domain and requesting read and delivery receipts, User 1 will instantly receive the delivery receipt
From: Microsoft Exchange. (This is what we want, so far so good)
If User2 selects to reply to the read receipt request then User1 will instantly receive one with from field From: User2 (This is what we want as well)
However, after 10-15 min User1 will receive an email From: User2 with Subject: Delivered: Message1. and an attached file containing:
“Original-Message-ID:2147487329
Final-Recipient: User2@domain.com
Action:Delivered”
(This we do not want)
Why is it sending the second delivery message and how can I stop it? The message does not appear in the sent items folder of User2’s account so is it automatically generated
by the server?
Also what settings do I need to check to ensure that this happens with external messages (incoming and outgoing) as well.
Thanks for any help.

Hi guys sorry i couldnt get back here sooner its been hectic here at the office.
Ok so I've tried looking through the properties for Microsoft Forefront and even disabeling it for a test run of emails but with no success.
Apparently not all the users are having the problem so it must be a user/client problem.
One user it happens to uses a laptop on windows 7 with Outlook 2007 with a blackberry phone. However another user has the exact same setup without the problem.
