Public Folder Calender Item - Permission Issue
I have a Public folder calender hosted on Exchange Server 2003 SP2. There is a recorring meeting (with no end date) on that calender. Even if I am the owner of the caldender PF I am not able to delete this series. I get the following error "You do not have permissions to send the message if the specified user" .If I wish to delete without sending cancallation update I still get " You do not have permissions" . The user who created this series left the organization and his account has been deleted.I am not sure whether it is really a permission issue or Exchange Server 2003 problem as I recourrence count is greater than 400.Any help on this is appreciated.ThanksAJAY YADAVMCSE - WIndows 2000, MCTS - Exchange 2007

Hey Ajay,
Did you try using PFDavAdmin?Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

So, its an orphaned recurring meeting in the public folder.
The recommended method would be: Restore the deleted user object and the mailbox, and then send the cancellation update as you have mentioned in your post.
I think that Amit want you to verify the DACL status and the Owner permission of your account on the public folder via PFDavAdmin, you can refer the step 4 of my post in this thread to check it out
Notes: Since your exchange version is 2003, the .Net Framework 1.1 doesnt need to be installed. Its for exchange 2007
If later, you have confirmed that the permission is right and the DACL status is good, yet the meeting still cant be removed. I think the workaround here would be: Backup all the items (Except the orphaned recurring meeting) in that public folder to a new public folder, and then delete the old public folder. Now, you can rename the new public folder to the old one

Hello James/AmitI did verify the DACL Status using PFDavAdmin before I started this thread. The DACL Status is good. There are no item level permissions on any items. If I wipe out the current DACL info and commit the changes. Will this help?ThanksAjay

I didn't try wipe option anytime but check deleting calendar item by opening outlook profile in MFCMapi and going to Public Folder store, you may get luck there...
If nothing works then I guess James' last options is the only way to remove PF after taking backup, create new PF and restore the backup...Amit Tank | MVP Exchange Server | MCITP: EMA | MCSA: M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com
