Public Folder Database Missing Content
I have an Exchange 2007 server where we can see the public folder tree, but not any of the contents. All of the folders are visible, but each folder shows no items. This is the case even when viewing with the public folder management tool. The DB is over 2GB so, I think the data is in there but just not visible. This problem was introduced during a migration from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. Unfortunately, the process was done by a previous consultant and I don't know any more details. TheEx2003 server has been decomissioned and no old backups are available. It appears that repairs have been attempted on the database, but with no resolve. Any ideas are appreciated.

Clarify: Public folder database is over 2 GB, but no contents are visible from clients [Outlook, OWA] Collect info: You said that contents arent showed even in PFMT [Public Folder Management Tool], does it means that the values of Total items and Size is 0 in those public folders properties? Troubleshooting: 1. Try to access public folder in a raw data way by using MAPI Editor a. Launch Editor in a PC which has a mail profile existed b. Sessions menu->choose Logon and Display Store Table->choose mail profile in jumped window c. Double-click public folder in the top-pane to access, if you can visit the contents 2. Try to run an integrity check using Eseutil if error free <Eseutil /g PublicStoreFilePath> Notes: Dismount database at first, do it in unproductive time 3. Monitor online defragmentation, go to application log, search for Event 703 4. Launch EMS, run Get-PublicFolderStatistics -Server "ServerName" | Fl > C:\PFdata.txt Notes: Post few issued public folders data

Ok, here's the update. It turns out that a few folders actually do have content, but most do not. Those that do have content I'm able to see through Outlook client, MAPI Editor, and Get-PublicFolderStatistics. All aee consistent. I ran Eseutil /g on it and the status was successful. The online defragmentation is indicating that there is about 2.5GB free in the 2.7GB database. So, to me it looks like the data was somehow deleted during the migration process. Or if a corruption happened, data was lost in the attempted repairs. Since it was a prevous person that did it we'll see if there is a back up of the old server from before the migration and see if we can restore from that. I don't have much hope that we can pull anything out of this database unless you have some ideas. We're past the 14 day undelete time frame for items. -Byron
