We're busy migrating a client to Exchange 2013, and I'm wondering whether I need to run any of the public folder migration tasks/scripts if the client is not using public folders at all?  Are there any System public folders that are still used in Exchange 2013 environments?

if user is not using any PF folder then free/busy and OAB will be downloaded via Autodiscover and web-distribution hence even system public folder also not req

Hi,
Exchange 2013 doesn't use System Folders No and if you're not using any Public Folders in the ORG you can delete the Public Folder Database. Just follow the instructions in the below TechNet Article, section Remove the last public folder database from an organization.

This is something that you can do before any mailboxes has been moved to Exchange 2013 if you want to.
