Public Folders and custom form publishing?
Hi,
We have a custom form that was developed when we used Outlook 2003 and Exchange 2003. Now that we've upgraded to Outlook 2010 and Exchange 2007, I have been asked to make a change to this form. It seems like a simple change, just changing the
items in a dropdown list control.
I made the change and published the form to the Organizational Forms Library however it didn't seem to take. No one, including me originally saw the change on the form. A few hours later one of my users came around and said that he now had the
change but the other users around him didn't. I checked an now I too have the change, so it seems that Exchange just needed time to propagate the change.
It has been well over a week now and still only a few users have received the changed form. I did a quick test and discovered that if I logged into another computer I received the old form even though I have the new form on my main workstation.
So can someone explain this to me? Does it really propagate by computer and not user? Is there a way I can push the new form to all my users other than the basic publish function of Outlook/Exchange?
I'm guessing there must be a repository of these forms in Exchange somewhere, is there a way to edit them there?

Have you cleared the Forms cache in Outlook? Thats usually the first step to ensuring you see any changes on the Form in the Org Forms Library ( Its a system folder in the public folder tree).
If you are still seeing the old form after clearing the forms cache in Outlook, then update the content of the public folder itself if there are mutiple replicas of it on the public folder servers.

Do you have more than one replica of the folder? Are the replicas "in
sync"?

Neither. Replication is "per public folder database".

If you have more than a single replica for the organization forms try
removing all but the replica you make the changes to.
Deleting the forms cache on the local machines may also be necessary
if you have only a single replica of the folder:

I'm not in the office today but how do I know if I have more than one replica and if they are in sync?

Ah, thanks! In the Public Management Console I looked at the Properties of the Folder in question and it shows only one entry on the Replication tab. Use public folder database replication schedule is checked.

You could use the "Public Folder Management Console" in the EMC's
toolbox.
Or you could use "get-publicfolder <folder-path> | fl" to see the
information.
You can use the "Get-PublicFolderStatistics -identity <folder-path>
-server <server> | fl" to get, and compare, the folder data in each
replica.
