Public folder
The default Public Folder was deleted some time ago and no back ups are available. Is there a way to re-instate the original Default Public Store.
Thank you.

I'm not sure what you mean. Is there a "Public Folders" object beneath
the "Folder Hierarchies" object in the Confoguration container? Or id
there just no longer any public folder database?
Knowing wht release of Exchange you're running wouldn help, too.

Yes, youe question is not complete !
This was last public folder database in your ORG ?. If you have deleted "Default Public Store" and no replioca you have then you are gone here.
Even if you have backup of PF DB then you ca restore it in isoltaed environment then can move dtat into production.Anil

I running Exchange 2003 SP2. The default public folder, the one created when exchange was installed and the first administrative group was created, was deleted some time ago. The path, if this helps, is Administrative Groups-> servers-> sever->First
Storage group. There's no backup because the deleted PF dates back too far. I'm not an Exchange adminsitrator but I can find my way around but with limits.
When I select properties of the Mailbox Store for the server I get a message ;
"No such objet on the server"
Facility : Win32
ID no:c0072030
Exchnage System Manager.
Hope this helps.
Thank you.

if you do not have the back up there is not way to reocver the public folder unless the item is in the deleted item retention period
if you get to the properties of the public folder store. you will see the deleted items retention time in one the tabs. iguess limits tabs
if the items were deleted within that time from today. you will be able to reover the item using
http://www.tek-tips.com/faqs.cfm?fid=6509 this method where you append the "?cmdshowdeleted" to the url
from where the pf was deleted in owa

The retention period has expired. How do I remove any reference to the default PF and create a new PF which users will have access to?
Thank you.

create a new public folder databse and set that as the default public folder store from users "mailbox store" properties
i believe you sitll have the system folders
under administrative group. folders. right click and view system folder. there add replica to the new pf that you added
once content has repliated. you should be good to remove the old PF databseDhruv

I'm sorry but as mentioned I'm not an Exchange Administrator, can you give me more details to complete your solution. A new PF database is created but I do get some error messages :
When I choose the properties of the Mailbox Store I get a message that states :
There is no such object on the server.
Facility : Win32
ID no : c0072030
Exchange System Manager.
I then select OK on th error message and I have access to the properties of the Mailbox Store. I then select Browse and get the message :
The operation failed because you do not have read permission on the administrative group containing the public folder tree.
ID no: c1034a9d
Exchange System Manager.
The account I'm logged in with is member of the following groups :
Administrators
Domain Admins.
Domain Users
Enterprise Admins
Exchange Enterprise Servers
Exchange Domain servers.
Schema Admins
The account also has full rights on the MailBox Store as well as full rights on the Public Folder Tree.
Thank you

Hi James-Luo,
Sorry for the delay in replying, I've been out of the office the last couple of days. That's quite an order and I will go through each one and I'll get back to you with the results.
Thank you.
