Hello everyone. I am unable to mount the Public Folder Databaseon my new Exchange 2007 server. I'm receiving the following error message: Error: Exchange is unable to mount the database that you specified. Specified database: ae427003-6450-4b04-a332-4ed367e91ffe; Error code: MapiExceptionNotFound: Unable to mount database. (hr=0x8004010f, ec=2147221233) (that was very painful to re-type, I'll have you know!!!) I've done some Google searches on this and all I seem to come up with are discussions of OAB and OWA. Can anyone suggest why I can't mount this Public Folder database? I believe this is preventing my pre-Outlook2007 users from logging on to the server. Any suggestions welcome. Paul

Is this error from the Application event log? If not, try to mount the database, then look in the event log for messages from either ESE for the Information Store.

Hi Jim. Thanks for your reply. I actually had to call Microsoft Product Support services to get this resolved. For anyone who is interested, the Microsoft support rep did a few things to my server, but the one he says resolved the issue was to run ADSI Edit and give the "Exchange Servers" security group Full Control over the following path: Configuration CN=Configuration,DC=[domain name],DC=ca CN=Services CN=Microsoft Exchange CN=[Organization name] CN=Administrative Groups CN=First Administrative Group CN=Folder Hierarchies CN=Public Folders Before I give his explanation as to why this was necessary, I'll need to give a brief explanation of the original installation of this Exchange server: I have a Windows 2000 based domain, and an Exchange 2000 mail server. Like many people, I became frustrated after promoting one of my member servers running Windows Server 2003 SP1 to a Domain Controller which would be a Global Catalog / Schema Master server (to meet the requirements of Exchange 2007) only to have the GUI based Exchange '07 installation routine fail. I then found a posting online that showed the necessary switches to do the installation from the command line (setup /mode:install /domaincontroller: servername /roles:ht,ca,mb,mt /enablelegacyoutlook) and ran it and this finally got Exchange installed. Anyway, the Support rep repeatedly insisted that I hadn't used the "/enablelegacyoutlook" switchand that this isthe reason why the Exchage Servers security group didn't have Full Control over the "Public Folders" object. He didn't seem phased when I told him that he was wrong, that I had used that switch, and that there must be some other explanation. After adding this permission,we had to re-run the following commands (which I had already run during the first setup) and then everything was fixed: setup.com /preparelegacyexchangepermissions setup.com /preparedomain setup.com /preparead setup.com /prepareschema So there you have it. Hopfully if anyone else out there is having this problem, you'll find this posting and give this a try. Good luck Paul

This post worked for me too but I had no "Folder Hierarchies". So I had to perform the following task to create the folders and the object FP object http://forums.microsoft.com/technet/rss.aspx?postid=1830337&forumid=839&siteid=17.Don't you wish MS could have made it simpler?Ed
