Public folder email address from h3ll
I am trying to remove a public folder email address. But, it wont let me because (i think) there is no public folder associated with the email address. It's alsmost as if way back in the day when we were on Exchange 2003, someone created a public folder and associated an email address with it. Then removed the public folder but not the email address. So now i'm having issues. Here is what I've done so farPS] C:\Windows\System32>get-mailpublicfolder "edi" Alias Identity----- --------EDI domain.com/Microsoft Exchange System Objects/EDIEDI domain.com/Microsoft Exchange System Objects/EDI-1EDI domain.com/Microsoft Exchange System Objects/EDI-2[PS] C:\Windows\System32>get-mailpublicfolder "edi@domain.com" Alias Identity----- --------EDI domain.com/Microsoft Exchange System Objects/EDI-2************************************************************So now we see the email edi@domain.com is associated with the alias EDI-2Now the following command:[PS] C:\Windows\System32>get-mailpublicfolder "edi@domain.com" | get-publicfolderGet-PublicFolder : There is no existing PublicFolder that matches the following Identity: '/o=Domain/ou=Domain/cn=Recipients/cn=EDIB11DB42FB11DB42FB11DB42F5E24FE5F0644AD'. Please make sure that you specified the correct PublicFolder Identity and thatyou have the necessary permissions to view PublicFolder. At line:1 char:62 + get-mailpublicfolder "edi@domaincom" | get-publicfolder <<<<[PS] C:\Windows\System32>*********************************************How do I go about removing the email address edi@domain.com ? It used to be associated with a public folder. It appears the public folder is gone but the email address still exists. I have a distribution groupI need to add the SMTP address of edi@domain.com to and need to remove it first since when I try to add it to the distribution group i get an error message stating it already exists. Thanks much!ZachZach Smith

I honestly don't have step by step. I have used ADSIEdit in the past to remove some wierd things associated with Public Folders and figured this would be your best approach unless anyone else has a better idea. You could probably do a search for it in ADSIEdit.BP

Using ADSI Edit worked. I was able to find the EDI-2 alias that owned the edi@domain.com address and simply deleting it from that worked. I was stuck using the EMS. Thanks for the help.ZachZach Smith

Hi there, BP I wondered if you could tell me what attributes you changed in ASDIedit to accomplish the mail disable of the public folder. I've removed mail, mailNickname and proxyAddresses and it still thinks it's mail-disabled, won't let me enable it. I don't want mail to go to this public folder any longer and can't seem to modify the correct setting. Thanks, Polaris
