Check the event id 1221 to see how much white space is in the public folder database. If there is alot of white space than you can perform an offline defrag of the database. If there is minimal white space than you need to start deleting\aging some older
content out (you can use pfdavadmin to identify last modification etc.)James Chong MCITP | EA | EMA; MCSE | M+, S+ Security+, Project+, ITIL msexchangetips.blogspot.com

Can you bring up another server? You could create a new PF store on it and move some replicas.

You need to perform some house keeping.See how much whitespace you have and consider performing an offline defrag.Consider creating a new PF DB and replicating across and deleting the old one.Sukh

Create a new PF DB then add the this to the replica list for the PF Folders using ESM or PFDAVAdmin.Sukh

do i have to create the new database to an external drive? Then copy this database to the replica list and then run the replication process?

No, what I am saying is create a new PF DB on a new server, then add this new PF DB as a replica, and let replication take place. You can place this on any drive which is connected to Exch as you see fit.Sukh

There isn't any other server, only the current one..

Then you have a issue, I would then use one of the other options above, unless you can get hold of a temp server/PC.Sukh

Ok Sukh, I will try an offline defrag and see what happens.. do you have any idea how long it might take? In order to do it during the weekend or over a night..
Thank you very much for your help!Akitan

Hi,
Please backup the database and then do offline defragement.
I recommend you to use recipient policy to limit the size of the public folder
How to use recipient policies to control mailboxes in Exchange 2000 and Exchange 2003

Besides, you can try to move message which is old enough and do not want to be deleted from public folder to PST file

Yes. Take a content report on your Public Folder size ( use PFDAV Admin) . Suggest the users to deleted the unwanted content those who are utilised more space. Once clean up done. Please perform Offline defrag, and apply quota for public folders.
