Suddenly messages in 1 particular public folder has changed to post instead of message. I have looked at serveral KB articles and they refer to SP1 but I am all ready at sp2. What would be an easy way to change this on this specific Public folder Thanks Fred

Did you add the registry key? HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchangeIS\<ServerName>\Public-<GUID> Value name: Incoming defaults to IPM.Note Value type: DWORD Value data: 0 or 1 0 (zero) is default (0=false).

If the registry key to have a value of 0(zero), the result behavior is the same as the default behavior, and incoming message appear as IPM.Post. If you set the registry key to have a value of 1(one), the behavior changes, and new SMTLP mail message from a non-MAPLI source appear as IPM.Note. Please note that: To enable this functionality you must configure these registry settings on all Exchange servers that host public folders. You do not have to configure these registry settings on Exchange servers that do not host public folders. Additionally, you must configure these registry settings for each public folder database on the particular server where you want to enable this functionality. After you change the registry, you must restart the Microsoft Exchange Information Store service to enable this new functionality. If you have done that, but still not work as expected, I suggest you follow Andy’s suggestion to have a try. Yeah all the exhange servers were rebooted Ok, I would re-verify that registry key. It should be set to 1, not 0, also did you test sending a message to the folder from outside of Exchange?

The registry entry are all set at 1 and email send from external email account. Still no change

To clarify... you created a new public folder and the same thing is happening right? Also... this only happens to messages coming from outside your organization... right? If the answer to both of those is Yes... then, i hate to beat a dead horse but, we simply have to be missing something here... Can you please attach a screenshot of that registry value from every public folder registry entry on every public folder server you have? (Or a text export) Kevin Ca - MSFT

I have the exact same problem and have followed all the steps mentioned with exactly the same result. The Key created is: hklm\system\currentcontrolset\services\msexchangeIS\dbysvrvirex001\Public-a8ffd192-638a-6b42-8263-d5596e818680\ Then: "Incoming defaults to IPM.Note" which is a DWORD set to 1 This is set on all exchange servers, including our front end server for OWA. The GUID was found from using ADSIEdit and going to the "Microsoft Exchange System Objects" container, finding the name of the Public Folder and obtaining the "ObjectGUID". Any ideas?
