Public folders problem on exchange 2007
Hi I have a new exchange 2007 infrastructure (it wasn't migrated from anything) and lately i have problems with OAB and public folders. At some clients when they perform a "send/receive", a pop-up windows appears saying that "an object cannot be found". When i look into event viewer, i see that the object that cannot be found is OAB. The same problem appears with all the clients connected through outlook anywhere (RPC ov http). In addition, if i go to my exchange server in IIS manager, and try to check permissions on "Public" virtual directory, i get an error saying that the virtual directory doesn't exist. But if i browse the directory, i am logged on a web page that looks like OWA, with public folders only. It seems that OAB problem is binded with the public folder problem, because the same persons that have that error in outlook doesn't have their Contacts from GAL updated with the latest users added I want to re-create from scratch public folders (my users are not using this feature) and also solve the problem of OAB Any suggestions ? P.S. : In exchange management console, at "server config" , "client access", in the properties of my server i have the proper web address in the external and internal address field: "http://myexchangeserver.mydomain/OAB". When i want to access that page i get the login prompt, and after auth i get an 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied.

Not exactly. In exchange 2007 the OAB is distributed through URLs (unlike 2003 which was through public folders). So its doubtful , after recreating the PF, you will be able to resolve the OAB.Any event IDs you are getting while trying to update the OABs?Is this happening only to RPC over Https clients or even the MAPI clients??Raj

both on rpc and mapi. But not on all users. On exchange, the event id is: 8207, source: MSExchange "Error updating public folder with free/busy information on virtual machine S2K8NCHEX1. The error number is 0x80004005." So, in conclusion i have 2 different problems: 1) OAB which seems to be inaccesible to everybody (403 - Forbidden: Access is denied) 2) Public Folders which seems to be inexistent

Can you add the replica with the shell commandC:\>set-publicfolder -identity \NON_IPM_SUBTREE\SCHEDULE+ FREE BUSY\EX:/o=Company/ou=First Administrative Group -replicas "public folder database" Also check if every one has got the read permission on the OAB folder. Raj

After running your command modified to my settings i got a message saying that i don't have any Public Folders database matching ...... (etc, etc) "Also check if every one has got the read permission on the OAB folder" - I told you, OAB is inaccessible to everybody, including the domain admin user: Server Error 403 - Forbidden: Access is denied. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied.
