QDC with external email addresses
The main thing is first you need to determine what common filter to use so you can build the query. For example do these external contacts work for a particular company that you can filter on that? Now if you never set the company field then you will have
to go back and add that and make sure you set the fields everytime you create the contacts.

hi,
You should first create a mail contact for the external address, then create a OU in AD which is used to include the mail contact. Go to EMC,click
Recipient Configuration node, click New Dynamic Distribution Group. Follow the wizard then finish the creation.
Note:On the Filter Settings page, you should choose the OU that you create for the mail contact.
After do that, you can send mail to the query based disrtibution group and all members that meet the filter settings can receive the email.
hope can help you
thanks,CastinLu

First I'd like to thank those who replied to my previous posts, thanks!
I have an 07 outlook distribution list that has grown too large for outlook. How can I create a QDG (query based disrtibution group) in exchange 07 of external domain email addresses so I can email the group and have all members receive the email? I think
our forrest and domain levels are 03, but they might be 00.
A step by step is really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

THanks to all who replied, greatly appreciated!!!
Hi CastinLu,
Thanks for the reply and sorry it took me so long to get back. The solution you propose, when the email is sent to the dynamic dristribution group, will the receiving members of the group see all the other members email addresses in the group? For
Hipaa compliancy, this can't happen. Please let me know when you get the chance.
Thanks

Ok, so here we go.... I am running exchange 07, in 03 and 08 server environment. Forrest and domain mode @ 03.
I created an OU in AD and populated it with contacts. When I created the contacts in the OU, there was nothing saying anyting about an email address. After I created them I opened them one by one and entered an external email address in the correct field.
I then created a DDG (Dynamic Distributon Group) in exchange 07 (using the ESM) and on the filter tab, set it to the OU I created, with the "include these recipinet types" to contacts with external email.
When I send the list an email, none of the recipients listed in the OU get the email...what am I missing besides my mind? I do not get any NDR's or any error messages of any kind....Can't seem to figure this one out, I'm sure it's gotta be something simple..
Help is greatly appreciated as I have a may 6th deadline..
ThanksRay Sperle
