Query regarding Public folder Mailbox in Exchange Server 2013

Hi,

I have created a public folder mailbox through ecp client.

i want to know that can i log in in this public folder mailbox and use it as a normal mailbox?

If yes, then what are steps to log in through public folder mailbox (because at the time of creation of public folder mailbox , i have set any password or other things for it) and is it useful or recommended to use it as a normal mailbox?

thanks

Hi,
No, it is not possible to log on to Public Folder Mailboxes just as one can do with other mailboxes.

Hi Martina,

Thanks for your reply.

When i create a Public folder mailbox, a user is created in Active directory. If i will enable that user from Domain controller ( Active Directory Users and computer), then i should be able to log in through it.

When i run this command " Get-MailboxStatistic", i can see one property "LastLogonTime".

Isn't it behave like a normal mailbox if we log in?

Thanks in advance.

A Public Folder Mailbox is not a "normal" mailbox and there is really no good reason to enable it.

If public folder mailbox is not a normal mailbox, then if i run "Get-Mailbox -PublicFolder | fl" cmdlet, i can see some properties like "ProhibitSendQuota", "ProhibitSendReceiveQuota", "IssueWarningQuota", "MaxSendSize", "MaxReceiveSize".

What is the meaning of these properties for public folder mailbox? Also each public folder has a email address. Can we send the mail to public folder? If yes, then how can we send the mail if we can not login to public folder.

Will u please explain this point?
