Qwerky Transport Rule Query

Hi All,

We have a customer who receive numerous automated emails for job applications which come in to a specific mailbox. The email comes from a "DoNotreply" email address but contains the applicants email address in both an attachment and also within the body of the email.

I would like to know if it possible to create a transport rule which is able to pick out the email address from either the body of the automated email or from the attachment that comes with the email and reply to this email address with a default reply/message.

I don't believe the attachment query is possible but I'm not so sure with regards to extracting it from the body of the email.

If someone could advise even if it is to confirm this is not possible, I would appreciate it.

Regards

Dan

Hi

Setting up auto-replies to the Internet at the mailbox level is a really bad idea. Not only will open up yourself to potential mail loops if the sender mailbox is set to automatic response, you could get your org put on blacklists auto-replying to spoofed messages.

To create an auto-reply in Outlook see example: http://techsupport.psr.edu/AutoReply/AutoReply.htm

Solution:

  • Log in to OWA with that mailbox

In right corner choose in an options roll - Set automatic reply..

Type the text you want as response.

Thanks for your reply Sathish,

I'm not looking to set a reply for all emails coming in as like you say there is the potential to end up in a mail loop.... What I'm trying to get an answer to is... Is it possible for a transport rule to extract an email address from the original email received (either from the body of the message or the attachment) and then send an automated reply to this email address?

Thanks

Dan

Hi,

Transport rule cannot set up automated reply to any messages.

See Transport rule actions

From client side, no inbox rule will extract an email address from original email and set up auto reply to this extracted email address.

Best Regards.
