RPC Requests Outstanding-In client access server which is not active

Short description

- I have two Exchange servers in DAG. Both servers are having Client Access role installed in it.

1) Exchange-1 (Mailbox and CAS)

2) Exchange-2 (Mailbox and CAS)

While monitoring the servers, I noticed that the RPC operations per second is normal in Exchange-1 and in Exchange-2 it is showing as zero.

However, at times say 3-5 times a day, I get RPC Requests Outstanding (=3). At the same time, rpc operations/sec is 0

Can anyone help me in identifying which will be the Client Access Server to which clients will be connecting (Exchange-1 or Exchange-2 or both)?

And the reason why rpc outstanding requests is greater than 0 when there is no rpc operation/sec.

Hi

Check this link

"Mailbox Server Counters"

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff367871.aspx

In Store Client Request Counters

MSExchange Store Interface(_Total)\RPC Requests outstanding Should be 0 at all times.

And from this thread

http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/a4d44327-d92c-4daa-bb4b-127ee5eadc9d/outstanding-rpc-requests-0-is-this-a-problem

seems like the load is increasing some where

Cheers
