RPC over HTTP - Exchange 2003
We are running Exchange 2003 as a single mail server on our domain. We have setup RPC over HTTP, everything seems to be working, can telnet internally to ports 6001-6004 and recieve replies.
However Outlook Anywhere will not connect. When running the Exchange Test Connectivity, we get the following error:
An error occurred while testing the NSPI RPC endpoint.
Attempting to ping RPC endpoint 6004 (NSPI Proxy Interface) on server EXCHANGE.
The attempt to ping the endpoint failed.
The RPC_S_SERVER_UNAVAILABLE error (0x6ba) was thrown by the RPC Runtime process.
Anyone have any ideas?

There are only three things that fail with RPC over HTTPS on Exchange 2003.
Registry edits are wrong. Authentication issue SSL certificate problems.
That is of course presuming that you meet the requirements of Exchange 2003 on Windows 2003 with at least one Windows 2003 GC/DC. If you have Windows 2000 then you can't use the feature.
Based on the error, I would expect that it is registry edits are wrong.

Hi,
Please try Simon’s suggestions to re-configure RPC over HTTP settings and restart the server to check the result. As an additional information, please also
refer to the following article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833401
However, if the issue persists, please run
NETSTAT –ANO in Command Console and post the PID number which is running on the port 6001 and 6003.
