We have been running Exchange 2013 for around 10 months now. We upgraded 2013 to CU7 in January, for the last 2 months it has been the only Exchange environment we have, before then we had in coexistence with Exchange 2007.

Over the last week or so a number of users have reported random auto discover pop ups. All users saw this when they first moved to 2013, and it is seen again if they log into a new machine or need to rebuild their mail profile, however, the people reporting this are using machines they have had for a while and no changes have been made to their profiles.

The pop up says it needs to reconfigure an xml file (the path is specific to their profile).

Why do these pop ups appear and what can I do to stop them?

Additionally, please run Test E-mail AutoConfiguration tool in client side to check the autodiscover service:

Open Outlook - press CTRL key - right click on the Outlook icon from right bottom corner taskbar - Test Email AutoConfiguration. Put your email address - uncheck use guessmart and secure guessmart authentication - click Test to check your Autodiscover service.

Please provide the Log tab information in the results.

Looks like this was a case of a senior manager over reacting to a side comment from another senior manager and making this sound like an issue when it isn't, and both people reporting this not giving me the full story until it has been investigated and raised on here.

The 2 people who had mentioned this had both hit cancel each time they saw this pop up, every time since they were migrated to2013. Looks like Exchange is persistent and asks again periodically. I told them to hit OK and it will stop asking.
