It has to go somewhere. Does the old e-mail server think it's authoritative
for the domain? Or have you created a different e-mail domain for Exchange
recipients? How have you configured the old e-mail server to send messages
to Exchange? That is, how does the old e-mail system know that the messages
are supposed to go to Exchange and then how does it know how to route them
there?

Nothing happens. The email doesn't reach its destination account and the
sender doesn't get any type of error message.
