Receiving mail externally from authoritative domains
Hi, I have an edge/hub 2007 configuration. Trying to accept mail externallywith from address as one of the server domains.I've added the "ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Authoritative-Domain-Sender" right on the edge server, but msgs still not being delivered.I would notice through message tracking that theydo make it to the hub but aren't actually delivered to a user's mailbox.Do I need a similar right on my hub server? For what identity/user?Thanks in advance - Joe

Hi Joe,You need to add additional domain as an accepted authoritative domain on Hub Transport server. Since you have Hub + Edge transport servers in your environment, you just need to configure it on Hub Transport and whenEdge Subscription process runs next time, the accepted domain configuration information will be replicated from Hub to the subscribed Edge Transport server automatically. Sorry it's not that I want to accept from additional domains - it's that I want to accept from an authoritative domain.Let's say my domain is jpresto.com. If someone sends me an email from joe@joepresto.com I want to be able to receive it.I have edge configured to accept it. It seems to be accepted by hub but not delivered. Thanks - Joe

Hello Joe,From the description you give it looks like you have an AD domain jpresto.com and which is by default configured in Exchange 2007 to receive email. Now you want to assign new email addresses to some/all of your users with domain name joepresto.com so they will have an additional email address ****@joepresto.comand you have configured MX record for joepresto.com domain in public DNS which is pointing to your edge server to receive emails which are sent to ****@joepresto.comby external world. Am I correct? In this case you need to add joepresto.com domain as an accepted authoritative domain on hub transport server to receive and distribute emails for joepresto.com email addresses. If my assumption is not correct then can you please explain your scenario in detail and to whom you gave ms-Exch-SMTP-Accept-Authoritative-Domain-Sender permission on edge transport serverAmit Tank || MVP - Exchange || MCITP - Exchange 2007 || http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com
