Hi,I have exchange 2003 setup with multiple recipient policies likexx1.comxx2.comxx3.comas of now xx3.com is set as primary SMTP. I have a situation where i need to change the primary SMTPto xx2.comWas just wondering if there is anything else i need to consider apart from editing the recipient policy to have xx2.com as primary smtp.There are about 50,000 mailboxes, I am little concerned on how much time RUS would take to stamp / update these objects or if I should consider using some script to change the primary SMTP address to xx2.com.Any help will be appreciated.Cheers,Spinv

Hi,You dont need to run the script, let it be handled by RUS itself. By doing it either ways they are going to put simillar load on AD so I would suggest not running after any script for doing so. What best you can do to avoid additional load is temporarily change the RUS update schedule to run between non peak hours so that it wont put additional load on DCs and Exchange both. The only benefit of a script I see is it can allow you to choose the number of users you want to modify. As far as changing a primary email address is concerned I will definitely consider that xx3.com wont be removed from either of mailboxes unless neccessary so that the mailflow to any mailbox wont be intterupted.MMilind Naphade | MCTS:M | http://www.msexchangegeek.com

Do this after Business Hours. the sooner you modify the primary SMTPto xx2.com it will ask prompt you saying do you want to update this for all recipients. and once you say yes it will generate heavy LDAP traffic between your Exchange and GC infrastructures. Hi, The Recipient Update Service seems to slow down when you perform a rebuild operation in Exchange Server924102 The Recipient Update Service performs a search based on the filter on the policy (the purportedSearch attribute) of all objects that are associated with this policy.
