Recipient Update Service is missing or is not configured
I receive this error in analyzer: Recipient Update Service is missing or is not configured. I ran the management shell command: Remove-ADPermission "dc=<Domain>" -user "<RootDomain>\Exchange Servers" -AccessRights WriteDACL -InheritedObjectType Group but nothing happened and still had same result. This is exchange 2007 migrated from SBS 2003 which in no longer connected to network. I believe the other error: Recipient Update Service not configured has to do with this issue also. Any information greatly appreciated. Thanks! DSG

Perhaps you should investigate with ADSI EditInstalling Exchange 2007 into a Small Business Server 2003 Domain Part 2 - Organizing Exchange and your Network http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Installing-Exchange-2007-Small-Business-Server-2003-domain-Part2.htmlMCTS: Messaging | MCSE: S+M | Small Business Specialist

This is a link to 2003, as I am running 2007. Still trying to figure out why all links from analyzer go to 2003 documentations...makes no sense. The SBS 2003 is no longer hooked up to network.

With all respect for James-Luo and Vinod, I don't understand their suggestions in this case. Referring to Exchange System Manager in this situation does not make sense to me. There is no more SBS 2003/Exchange 2003. That's why I suggested ADSI Edit. You are basically removing "the Last Legacy Exchange Server from an Organization"http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb288905.aspx See the paragraph: Remove the last Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2000 server from an Exchange 2007 organization This article states: You will not be able to delete the Recipient Update Service (Enterprise Configuration) by using Exchange 2003 or Exchange 2000 System Manager. Perform the following steps to delete the Recipient Update Service (Enterprise Configuration) by using ADSI Edit (adsiedit.msc):Open ADSI Edit, expand Configuration, expand CN=Configuration,CN=<domain>, expand CN=Services, expand CN=Microsoft Exchange, expand CN=<Exchange organization name>, expand CN=Address Lists Container, and then select CN=Recipient Update Services. In the result pane, right-click Recipient Update Service (Enterprise Configuration), click Delete, and then click Yes to confirm the deletion. If this does not work, is there a possibility to start up the SBS 2003 box and properly remove this Exchange server?
