Reclaiming space after deleting mail and significantly reducing mailbox sizes
I have a Window 2003 Standard Edition, running Exchange 2003 SP2. My database was getting too big so i remove 10 gb of mail out of various mailboxes, but my database size did no reduce by that much. I ran ESEUTIL /d on the data base and only recovered 2
gb. Is there another option or way to get that 10 gb of space back. Right now my data base size is 60 gb. Also, what files make up the database.

How long are items still stored in the database on your system in the dumpster after being deleted? I believe by default it is 14 days.

Assuming you don't set the limits through a policy, the deleted item
and mailbox rethetion times are found on the property page of the
mailbox database -- on the "Limits" tab.
