That would depend on the number of IOPS per mailbox and the abilityof your storage system to accompodate the I/O workload. Another thing to consider is the size of the datgabse and your ability to make a backup within a reasonable amount of time and what your recovery goals are. IOW, can you expect to restore a backup in the time alloted in your SLA? --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Dear Rich, You are correct on your part. The only thing I want to know is that do Microsoft have some sort of recomendations for the limit of Milboxes in storage of 2003 as it has for the 3007 or not, and if yes then what's that. Definitely every organization plans for the recovery within stepulated SLA but then too we should be knowing the recomendations from Microsoft as well. Thanks..

Hi, Recomamnd less than 4000 mailboxes in each server. No limitation for the mailbox storage. The number of mailboxes is truely not a concern. You can 10,000 mailboxes in the only database on the server if only several thousand of them are connected to at a time. I wouldn't recommend doing that, though. IOPS are your guide to database design. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Thanks Gen and Rich for your prompt support. That means it totally depends upon the required mailboxes. Thanks again to both of you.
