Recovering Public Folders
Our Exchange 2003 SP2 std would not start. According to the log Exchange could not contact the domain controller so the system attendant service and everything else would not start. Because we have been having difficulty with the server, probably due to its low system disk space, we purchased a new server, installed Exchange 2003 and restored. We were able to restore the mailboxes but not the public folders. This was probably due to our lack of experince with the Acronis software we use. I have tried to restore just the public folders to our new server but all I get is errors. Acronis support is no help.We will have the database and logs on the old server. How can I get the public folders from the old server to the new server?

Is the new server a different name than the orginal?Did you install Exchange 2003 with the /disasterrecovery switch?

The new server does have a different name. I don't know about the disasterrecovery switch I did not install Exchange. I am just cleaning up after the battle. The best I could do was dismount the public store replace the pub database files from ones on the old server and remount. This seemed to work. I will find out tomorrow from the users what did not work.I am really disappointed in our expensive BU software (Acronis). Despite having a validated full backup I could not restore the public folders. We managed to do the mailboxes but not the public folders. Thanks for you input.
