Does anybody know of any data recovery software that is really good on recovering deleted outlook express PST files? I am looking for something that just scans for that PST. Please help if you can. Thanks

In case some users don't know the difference between Outlook and Outlook Express, please note they are two different products. Outlook is a product of Microsoft Office and we provide support for it in this forum, while Outlook Express was an email and news client included with Internet Explorer, it is no longer available or supported by Microsoft.

Moreover, as Karl mentioned, there is no such thing as an "Outlook Express PST file", Outlook uses .pst files while Outlook Express doesn't. For Outlook .pst files, if you need to repair it, we have Scanpst from Outlook itself; if you need to recover a deleted .pst file, you will need to use some 3rd-party tools, which I'm not familiar with.

There is some confusion at your end as Outlook Express does not have PST file. DBX files are the files where Outlook Express stores its emails, contacts etc. These files can be found in Outlook Express Store Folder. To determine Store Folder location, click Store Folder button at Tools -> Options ->Maintenance in Outlook Express.

According to your question, I think you have asked for recovering Outlook Express file which is in DBX format not in PST. So if you want to recover your DBX file, then you can go with the tool Outlook Express Recovery. This tool can not only recover your all DBX files, but can also convert them to save those in some other format. And another plus point is that it can also recover permanently deleted mails, the ones that you have deleted from your deleted items folder too.

<o:p>Note: You can also use "Scanpst" an inbuilt tool by Microsoft which helps to recover corrupted files. But it has certain limitations like it does not work on permanently deleted items.</o:p>
