Relaying config
I need to allow relaying through my Exchange 2007 mailbox/hub transport server. I will be creating a new receive connector for this. Is it better to just add another IP to the current NIC or add another NIC and IP?This Exchange server will be running on VMWare ESX 3.5.Thanks

This relaying will be for unauthenticated app servers, so I will need another receive connector at least according to the documentation...so I will need an additional IP. What do you think, better to add a separate NIC or just an IP to the existing? Thanks

Practically when you have physical server, you might not have multiple network card on it. So both will be fine because ultimately it communicates based on IP address defined in Local Network Settings of Receive connector.Amit Tank | MVP - Exchange | MCITP:EMA MCSA:M | http://ExchangeShare.WordPress.com

Setup a new receive connect that allows for only the IP addresses of the servers to connect to it.On the Authentication Tab select the top check box, TLS, selec the bottom Check box Externally SeccuredOn Permissions I do everything execpt partners, but you could get away with Anonymous.Another thing I have seen is that the default domain is not set on a receive connector so you may have to use the set-receiveconnector -defaultdoman yourdomainThat isn't always neccesary but I have seen it on some systems....BP
