Remote desktop start service
Logged into a remote desktop and accidentally killed the explorer.exe process.
Now when I relogin back again to the box, it doesn't load and bring up the desktop & shows a blank screen.
Wondering if there is a way to start the process back again without rebooting ?
Thank you

Connect to your server with
mstsc /console /servername
this will connect to the console and not reconnect to your existing session
Then open Terminal Services manager and reset the other session
You should be able to logon normally and get a complete new desktop

This is true if you log on to the console but if you are going in over terminal services its Ctrl+alt+end.

Hi,
I think deli is absolutely right on this issue.
when you mstsc /console and your severname you will get the org administrator whith opened application (if open previously) but if only use mstsc and your servername then you will be redirected to a new desktop session.
But this above case will happened with windows 2000 and 2003 server.
