Remove crashed ADC object from Active directory
Hi,
Few days ago one of my ADC windows 2003 server crashed , due to which no problem in my network but some events are logged in event viewer for NTDS replication. As the replication of crashed ADC has failed to replicate to DC.
Now I want to remove completely that crashed ADC from active directory which may also prevent the logging of such kind of events.
DC is running on windows 2003 server.
Please tell me how this process will go on,
Regards
Sunil

You can try following the procedures in KB216498. I would personally follow the adsiedit part of the article rather than trying to do it through NTDSUtil.

Hi Sunil,
My guess would be that NTDSUtil give you this error, am I correct? This would be because it cannot connect to a server which no longer exists on the network. The only work around is to find the objects in AD correlating to that server & delete them manually.
To do this you need to have Support Tools installed on the server & Run ADSIEDIT.MSC then find the objects in the following trees & delete them:
Configuration (Domain)
> Configuration (CN=Configuration,DC=Domain,DC=Suffix)
> CN=Sites
>CN=Default-First-Site-Name
>CN=Servers
Delete the object with the RemovedServer Name here
Domain(Server.Domain.Com)
>DC=Domain,DC=Suffix
> CN=System
>CN=File Replication Service
>CN=Domain System Volume (Sysvol Share)
Delete the object with the RemovedServer Name here
Allow your remaining DC's to complete replication & all should be dandy again.
