Removing Exchange 2007 that no longer exists
Hi all guys
My Exchange organization has two Exchange Server installed, the first one was deployed for testing purposes on a Virtual Machine, and the second one will become production server, the thing is that I have to remove the first one from the org.but I do not have the VM anymore, how can I remove it without access to it? (I can't use setup /mode:uninstall)
All setup on Windows 2003 R2 SP2
Thanks in advance!

You cannot manually remove Exchange 2007, which is not either recommended. The only supported way to remove Exchange 2007 isuninstall it properly.
If VM doesnt exists then you can install a temporary server with same name and run setup /m:RecoverServer to recover the removed VM and once it is recovered then uninstall it properly.

I believe you can do this using adsiedit.
Install ADSI Edit.
Launch ADSI Edit. To do this, click Start, click Run, type adsiedit.msc in the text box, and then click OK.
Locate the Exchange server object by going to the following location: CN=Configuration, DC= Domain Name,DC=com, CN=Services, CN=Microsoft Exchange, CN=<Organization Name>, CN=Administrative Groups, CN= <Exchange Administrative Group>, CN=Servers, CN=<Server Name>.
Delete the server object.
Remove the Exchangeserver's machine account from Security groups Exchange Servers and Exchange Install Domain Servers
To be honest I would remove the server using this, then do a full uninstall on the other "test box" and start your production install from scratch with a new install and less chance of problems ! You should always keep your test environment separate from production.
Not sure onsupport for production if you don't do a fresh install. I only ever use adsiedit to remove in test labs....these kinds of changes are always done "at your own risk"

You really should have used the other option. It would have taken longer but you would ensure that the server was removed cleanly and that you don't run into problems in the future.
Thanks

I can believe this is not the good way for removing exchange 2007. You will not able to install Exchange 2007 or exchange 2010 after moved manually. I have tried it and remove in registry also. Remove exchange is effect but make new installation for exchange
after is ...impossible!
