In preparation to migrate from Ex2003 to Office 365, I need to switch Exchange 2003 to Native mode. This means I must remove all old remnants of Exchange 5.5. The option to delete a 5.5 server from an administrative group does not exist in Ex2003 Exchange System Manager. Every forum or article I read says it can only be deleted from Exchange 5.5 Admin Program. The 5.5 server has not actually existed for about 10 years, so I cant use that. The Exchange 2003 Server does not have the admin.exe file, I assume the 5.5 tools were not selected during installation. I do not have the Exchange 2003 media, and the "admin.exe" file does not exist in program files\exchsvr\bin.
Is there another way to remove the 5.5 server from Administrative group? Powershell? Manual?
Or is there a way to add the exchange 5.5 admin tool to my existing exchange 2003 server without interrupting service/minimal downtime?
Thanks,
