I had a previous Exchange admin that added an Exchange 2010 server in the console that is no longer online any longer and worse yet they never registered the key for it so every time I open the Exchange management console I get a popup window telling me this. How do I go about removing a server that is no longer online from the console?

He set up more than one Exchange server on the network originally apparently as the phantom Exchange server still appears under server configuration even though it does not exist on the network any longer.

That's not good. The only supported way to remove the server is to reinstall it with the same server name using Setup /RecoverServer, and then running Setup /Uninstall. There is no documented way to manually remove Exchange 2007/2010 and the only way to do it is using the setup /m:recoverserver, Thus using ADSIEDIT is not recommended nor supported.
