Removing an old exchange server
Hi everyone i have an old exchnage server which our organization used to use previoulsy but we have migrated all our storage group to another server ,now we want to remove this old exchnage server permanently, and this server is no more alive because it has been formatted and are using it as and ADC now,I did a meta data and now i cannot see this in the ADUC domian controller OU,But it still shows in the exchnage server organization it was master server in the routing group but i even made it as member i also deleted it form the recipent update service BUt when i delete it from ESM it says some users might be using the mailboxes from this server so i should either move the users to different server or disable the user ,I don't mind if i loose anything because all the users have been moved to other server and there is nohting to loose but this dosen't allow me to delete can any one tell me how do i get rid of this

You should never ever "delete" an Exchange Server like youve done it, therefore you have easy wizards which can to that for you.Now you could try this :Start Adsiedit.mscExpand Configuration [Server name]> CN=configuration,DC=.example,DC=.COM> CN=Services > CN=Microsoft Exchange > CN=Organization > CN= Administrative Groups > CN=(Groupname) > CN=Servers > Click on the Server you want to Delete.

Hi there,If you want to go the ESM route rather than using ADSIEdit search your user accounts that still point to this removed server in ADUC. Simply remove the Exchange attributes and then try again.Failing that by all means go the ADSIEdit route.I presume you paid attention to: "How to remove the first Exchange 2003 computer from the Administrative Group" http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822931OliverOliver Moazzezi | Exchange MVP, MCSA:M, MCTS:Exchange 2010, BA (Hons) Anim

I went with the ADSIEdit route and sucessfully deleted the server ands its not showing in ESM now but even then when i run dcdaig test i get an error that the removed serever is not replicating with other DC available in the Domian ,how is this possible when i have run metadata, and cleaned up and even deleted from DNS forward and backup lookup zonefurther deleted by going to ADSIedit .This removed exchange server was a DC as well with exchange
