Removing contents from an exchange 2007 mailbox?
Hi all
Apart from using the "export-mailbox -deletecontent" powershell command, is there a better way to purge a mailbox of its content?
I used this for a smallish mailbox (400 emails, 300 contacts) and it was fine, but for a 40000 emails and 5000 contacts mailbox it just presents: "An unknown Error has occured".
I recall in Exchange 2003 there was a problem with this type of process at an upper level of 5000 message or something to that effect.
Any ideas of a better way to do this or how to fix the -deletecontent switch for very large mailbox purging?

Hi,
Have you checked the errors in Application event logs?
This problem can happen if there are corrupted messages in this mailbox. Try to use
BadItemLimit to specifies the number of corrupted items in a mailbox to skip
before the export operation failed:
export-mailbox -deletecontent -BadItemLimit
