Removing dead Exchange 2003 Server/BDC from Domain
I am sure this has been covered in parts, but this is a multi-part issue.
Had an Exchange 2000 Server when I arrived here, upgraded it to 2003, and moved it to a new box.
Left it as a BDC, and Server stayed online.
The server is now dead (for several years), and is not used for anything.
I keep getting an error that the process STORE.EXE, DSAccess failed to obtain an IP for the DS Server Servername.Domain.com, error 1104.
Guess I need to remove the old server from the list, but not 100% sure how to get it out of Exchange AND from DC slot.
Thanks for help and guidance.

Hi John,
Could you please tell how you move it to a new box? Installed another Exchange 2003 server and move mailboxes to the new one, or use
Setup /disasterrecovery to move the Exchange server?

This means the server which is dead one is just acted as BDC or BDC with Exchange role now.
If you want to manually remove the Exchange server 2003, you can follow this KB:
